Shelby Lorena Eve Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Shelby was born on May 3, 1998, in Great Falls. Both Shelby (2016) and her older sister, Shea (2014), graduated from C.M. Russell High School. Shelby played basketball and volleyball through middle school but discovered a love of singing in high school and performed in the Chanson, Convert, and Chaconne choirs. After graduating Shelby moved to Bozeman and attended the Academy of Cosmetology where she earned her cosmetology license in 2017. Shortly after, she moved with her family to Missoula where she leased a salon chair and pursued her passion for making people feel beautiful.

Shelby was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive ovarian cancer in January of 2022 at the age of 23. Over the next 8 months, she sought healthcare in Billings, Missoula, Houston, and Cincinnati. After a courageous fight, Shelby passed away on September 25, 2022.

The treatments she endured and the side effects from them required frequent and often lengthy hospitalizations. Over the months she battled cancer, Shelby and her family encountered many compassionate bedside nurses who cared for her as if she was their own sister. The impact these nurses had on the family impelled them to create this scholarship to remember and celebrate Shelby’s life, and also show their deep appreciation and support for nurses of the future as they devote their lives to taking care of others.

Scholarship Requirements:

  1. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
