GFPS Foundation Educator Grants and Scholarships

The Great Falls Public Schools Foundation supports educators through grants and scholarships. The following offerings are available to educators in the school district: Educator Grants, Educator Mini-Grants, Immersive Professional Learning Grants, and Heisey Foundation Teacher Scholarships. Learning Enhancement Grant

Applications open December 1 through January 31. Funding is made available in April.

Learning Enhancement - Grants up to $5,000 that can be used for supplies, resources, equipment, programs, and/or books that enhance learning beyond traditional curriculum and resources. Requests must fall into one of five categories: Arts & Music, Literacy, Math & Science, Student Health & Wellness or Career Pathways.

Under the Math and Science category, a funded grant request provided forensic comparison microscopes at CMR that allow students to work together and effectively perform hair and fiber analysis on simulated crime scenes.

Under the Literacy category, a funded grant request at Riverview Elementary provided various children's books and other supplies to complete an interactive "Around the World in 30 Books" unit of discovery spanning the content areas of social studies and English Language Arts Standards.

Community Collaboration Grant

Applications open December 1 through January 31.

Grants up to $10,000 for outside-the-box ideas that leverage collaboration and community resources in creative ways. Must demonstrate collaboration with colleagues across classrooms, grade levels, schools and/or discipline areas. Some level of community engagement outside of the school is encouraged.

The GFH video production department and business and computer science departments received grant funding to envision an educational digital makerspace for the 21st Century. The remodeled classroom and equipment support hands-on learning for students in podcasting, radio broadcasting, video production, photography, photoshop, and more.

Immersive Professional Learning Grant

New in 2023, the GFPS Foundation will provide teacher grants to support immersive professional learning opportunities. Recipients of the grants will be expected to implement new concepts in the classroom and to formally share learning with colleagues to extend the impact of the newly acquired knowledge and skills.

MINI GRANT - Classroom Enrichment

Applications open year-round.

Mini grants up to $500 for items that enrich the classroom environment to make it more aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, functional, and engaging. Classroom Enrichment Examples

MINI GRANT - Hands-On Learning and Field Trips

Applications open year-round.

Mini grants up to $1,500 for support of hands-on, experiential learning opportunities in and out of the classroom.

MINI GRANT - Professional Enhancement

Applications open year-round

Mini grants up to $1,500 for support of professional enhancement opportunities for teachers, staff and administrators. May cover registration and travel expenses for professional conferences.

Heisey Foundation Teacher Scholarships

The scholarships are awarded annually to up to 20 teachers seeking to enhance their education by working on an advanced degree, specialized certification or endorsement, or academic work supporting GFPS’s goals. The $1,000 scholarships are distributed directly to the university or institution providing the education.

Applications open January 1 through February 15.
