Ron & Mary Tihista Memorial Scholarship

Ron and Mary Tihista met and grew up in Glasgow, MT but spent the latter part of their lives, nearly 50 years, in Great Falls, MT. Ron worked as a pharmaceutical representative, and after retirement, went on to acquire B&B Pawn where he thrived on building relationships. Mary took great pride in raising their six girls and volunteering in numerous ways in the community.

Although Ron and Mary were not musicians themselves, they loved music, and their girls ended up with an affinity for creating it, participating in Choir, Orchestra, and Band throughout their years at Great Falls High School. Remarkably, and on a limited income for a large family, Ron and Mary committed to supporting this interest through private music lessons from young ages. Three of the six daughters continued to study music in college largely due to the support and encouragement of their parents.

The children of Ron and Mary have established this annual $500 scholarship for a Great Falls High School graduate to honor their parents’ memory.

Scholarship Requirements:
1. Applicant must be a senior at Great Falls High School.
2. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
3. Applicants must have participated in the music programs for all 4 years of High School
4. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a music teacher or private lesson instructor.
