Bud Robertson Memorial Scholarship

Bud Robertson taught history at C.M. Russell High School from 1968 to 2004. He had BA and MA degrees from the University of Montana in Missoula. He had five kids who all graduated from CMR and also went to UM for their college degrees. Bud was a true Grizzly and went to many of their football games.

Bud truly loved to teach, he loved working with kids and treasured CMR. He sponsored Key Club, Chess Club, Wargaming Club and was the activities coordinator for football and basketball games. He was awarded “Teacher of the Year” at CMR and was the runner-up for the “Teacher of the Year” for all of Montana. In 1996, he was awarded the Dufresne Award, the same year his youngest son graduated from CMR.

Bud passed away in June 2022. He still had several history books on his table that he was reading. This scholarship was established by his wife, Francie, with funds coming from numerous people impacted by Bud’s commitment to education. The Bud Robertson Memorial Scholarship will provide one $1,000 award to a CMR graduate.
